Verin Mathwin
Like all Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah, Verin Mathwin has dedicated her life to study and learning. Like all Browns Verin has a tendency to drift off into thought, losing touch with the world. But in a number of ways, Verin is anything but the common Brown. She had knowledge which no other in the White Tower possesses. She is well versed in the Prophecies of the Dragon, as well as almost all aspects of history. Moiraine Damodred and Siuan Sanche sought to find and guide the Dragon Reborn. Verin was the only Sister who recognized what they were attempting, and she chose not to reveal what they were doing to the rest of the Tower. Should Verin have revealed them, Moiraine and Siuan might very well have been executed for treason. Verin was one of the first Aes Sedai to discover that Rand al’Thor could channel, and that he was in fact the Dragon Reborn. She helped him, telling him what little she could of saidin. It was Verin that helped Egwene al’Vere discover what it meant to be a Dreamer. She gave Egwene the twisted ter’angreal ring which had once belonged to Corianin Nedeal. How Verin herself came to possess this ter’angreal is unknown. Verin also has Corianin’s extensive notes, but she has kept these notes a secret known only to herself. Verin herself is something of a mystery. She has been in the White Tower for many years, but it is unclear what her exact goal is. All Aes Sedai have secrets, but it seems that Verin has many more than the common Aes Sedai. Many things about Verin are unclear, but it is certain that she is an important figure in world events.
