The Two Rivers

Far in the west of Andor, the Two Rivers serves as a good example of one of the forgotten regions of Andor. The Two Rivers is bordered by the White River, the River Taren, and the Sand Hills. It is further secluded by the presence of the Forest of Shadows to the south and the Mire to the east. Due in large part to its seclusion, the Two Rivers has little in common with the rest of Andor.

Most residents of this region do not realize they are part of a larger kingdom, much less that they are ruled by a Queen. People from the Two Rivers are characterized as stubborn and strong of will. They are more than happy to grow and export their valuable tobacco and wool, without having to deal much with the outside world. The Queen’s Guard has not been in the Two Rivers for generations; most of these people would be offended, if not outraged, if the Queen’s Guard suddenly appeared to collect taxes.

Few in the area know it, but these folk are actually the descendants of the lost nation of Manetheren. The White River is actually a part of the Manetherendrelle, the "Waters of the Mountain Home." The village of Emond’s Field sits on a site originally known as Aemon’s Field. It was here that King Aemon died in his last, hopeless stand against the Shadow two thousand years ago.

Manetheren’s blood still runs strong among the people of the Two Rivers. The village of Emond’s Field has produced five of the most influential people currently in the land - Rand al’Thor, Perrin Aybara, Mat Cauthon, Egwene al’Vere, and Nynaeve al’Meara.
