Tar Valon
The city of Tar Valon, nestled on an island in the River Erinin, is probably the center of politics in the world. Tar Valon is independent of any nation, as it is the location of the White Tower. The White Tower, naturally, is the center of Aes Sedai authority. As such, it is certainly the more important politically than any nation’s capital. Tar Valon is regarded as the premier work of the Ogier masons, though Caemlyn is a close second. Buildings flow organically from one to the next, each building created to accent those around it. The beauty of Tar Valon is dominated by the White Tower itself, rising high above the city. Being the political center that it is, Tar Valon is also a wealthy city. It is filled with merchants and shops, catering to the wealthy citizens of this richest of cities. Despite the wealth evident in the city, crime is unknown. Those caught stealing are sent to the Tower where a sister has a little talk with the thief; these thieves are seldom caught a second time. While there are many who fear or even dislike the Aes Sedai who hold sway in Tar Valon, none can deny the beauty of this city. The Ogier truly outdid themselves in its construction, and any traveler would do well to make a stop in Tar Valon.
