Seanchan History
Few continents can claim a peaceful history, but Seanchan’s history was particularly violent. The land where Artur Hawkwing built his empire was calm by comparison. Seanchan was made up of nations constantly shifting in alliances and power. Wars were common, and countries allied at the beginning of a war were frequently fighting each other before it was over. The people of Seanchan were devious by nature, and it was believed that only fools told the truth. Most nations were ruled by Aes Sedai. These Aes Sedai were sometimes allied with one another, but in general it was every Aes Sedai for herself. Assassination was the most common cause of death to the Aes Sedai who found themselves in a position of power. Luthair Paendrag and his followers came to a land divided by scheming and violence. Luthair, who came to be known as the Hammer, and his descendants became distrustful of all the natives of Seanchan. Eventually, these natives were subjected to the rule of Luthair’s descendants.
