The Horn of Valere
The inscription upon the Horn states, "The grave is no bar to my call." Prophecy stated that the Horn of Valere would be found before the Last Battle, to call back the dead heroes of the Ages to fight against the Shadow. The Horn was hidden long ago to keep it safe until the Last Battle. Unknown to most, the Horn has been found. Rand al’Thor and his company found the Horn at the Eye of the World. At Falme, the Horn was sounded by Mat Cauthon. Here, the heroes of the Ages appeared to help throw back the Seanchan. Mat is now tied to the Horn; to any other, the Horn is simply a horn. Until Cauthon dies, he is the only one who can summon the heroes of the Ages. Also, unknown to most, the Horn is not strictly a tool of the Light. In fact, should someone dedicated to the Dark One sound the Horn, the heroes would have no choice in the matter, and would have to fight on the side of the Shadow. It is popular belief that the Horn will help defeat the Shadow in the Last Battle - spirits would fall if it became known that the Horn could similarly help the Shadow battle against the forces of the Light.
